RCB signs a multi-million deal with Qatar Airways

Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Bengaluru based franchise of the famous Indian Premier League has cracked a deal worth 75 crores over a span of three years with one of the famous airlines of the world, Qatar based Qatar Airways. According to various reports, it is going to be the second largest deal in the history of IPL sponsorships.

Qatar Airways has recently endorsed leading Bollywood starlet Deepika Padukone as their brand ambassador. RCB had Muthoot Fincorp as their sponsor, but now after the taking over of Qatar Airways, it will appear on the front of the players’ jerseys.

“Biggest deal for RCB ever”

One spokesperson, aware of the knowledge of the extent of the deal, was heard saying, “The deal has been signed, and the announcement will be made in a couple of weeks. It’s worth ₹75 crore for three years, the biggest deal for RCB ever.”

He also mentioned about the gratitude he felt while seeing the interest of international brands and companies, thus adding,”It is heartening to see that more and more international brands are acknowledging the value of an Indian tournament. This will make other global brands also partner with IPL – either with the teams or with the IPL overall — which will be a good sign for the entire ecosystem.”

A hit in the international market since a long time

Since its initiation of the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008, many global brands have endorsed various franchises. Samsung, the leading company had a title sponsorship deal with Mumbai Indians, the five time champions of the league.

Viacom18 outbid rival Disney Star in 2022 to pick up the 5-year digital rights of the IPL with a bid of ₹23,757.5 crore, while the latter retained TV rights for ₹23,575 crore.

Qatar Airways is already a major shareholder in various star European Football Teams like PSG and it had also been a part of Barcelona , when Messi Suarez and Neymar had been at the helm of the club.
