Ravi Shastri and Wasim Akram to commentate during Asia Cup as ACC announces star-studded commentary panel for the multi-nation tournament

Asia Cup is just a few days away and the teams have already started preparing for the tournament with Pakistan and Bangladesh announcing their squad for the multi-nation tournament while the announcement of the much-anticipated Indian squad is awaited. The word from the Indian camp is that the team is waiting for an update on the availability of KL Rahul for the tournament. Although the videos and pictures shared on KL Rahul’s social media handles suggest that the keeper batter is making steady progress and might be available for selection in the Asia Cup which will be a big boost for the India team as the men in blue have been in search of options for the number four and five position before the World Cup. With KL showing good progress and Tilak Verma giving impressive performances against West Indies it might not be long before the Indian team finds a settled batting lineup.

The Announcement

While the teams are sweating it out on the field the Asin Cricket Council (ACC) has announced a star-studded commentary panel for the Asia Cup. The world feed commentary Pannel includes names like Gautam Gambhir, Ravi Shastri, Sanjay Manjrekar, Irfan Pathan, and Deep Dasgupta who will represent India along with Pakistani greats like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis who will be assisted by Ramiz Raja and Bazid Khan. Russel Arnold and Athar Ali Khan will be representing Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively while Scott Styris will be the neutral commentator.

The Missing Names

Certain regular names will be missing from the commentary box this time around which including the likes of former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar and ex-Indian opener Aakash Chopra. Aakash Chopra won’t be a part of the panel as the former Indian opener has signed a contract with Viacom 18 which restricts him to commentate during the Asia Cup and the World Cup. The panel of commentators commentating in various regional languages is awaited as there hasn’t been any update by the official broadcaster of the tournament star sports on the same
