PSG sack Christophe Galtier just days after winning Ligue 1

PSG sack Christophe Galtier just days after winning the Ligue 1 title. The French club finished just one point clear of Lens, but they failed to get past round of 16 in the Champions League and couldn’t win Coupe de France.

The 56-year-old’s future was hanging by a thread the moment they lost the match against Bayern in the Champions League. PSG were beaten 3-0 on aggregate by the German club.

Last month, Galtier said, “I deserve a second season at Paris Saint-Germain”. But he won’t be managing PSG after a disastrous season. PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos will replace him with a new manager this summer.

The PSG manager started his managerial career with Saint-Etienne, and managed them for eight years. He then took charge of Lille, and led them to a shocking Ligue 1 title in 2021.

He also led them to a Coupe de France final, after that, he took the PSG job.

PSG sack Christophe Galtier, but who will replace him?

Julian Nagelsmann seems to be the man that will replace Galtier at PSG, the former Bayern manager is the main candidate for the job. Sources also say that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will join him as his assistant.

The 35-year-old has been out of work since leaving Bayern, and was approached by Chelsea and Tottenham to become their manager.

But, Nagelsmann rejected them, and it seems like he will prefer to coach PSG next season. The former RB Leipzig manager was on the shortlist with Thiago Motta and Luis Enrique.

However, a deal has not been agreed yet with Nagelsmann, he is expected to visit Paris this week. And he has already identified the staff he would like to work with.

Messi and Ramos are leaving the club this summer, and Nagelsmann will focus more on youth players. PSG will not sell Kylian Mbappe at any cost as they see him as a key part.

However, they are open to selling Neymar this summer, but he could be a great asset to rebuild the whole squad once again.
