PSG 3-0 AC Milan: Mbappe and Kolo Muani shine for French giants as they outclass Italian superstars in a huge UEFA Champions League victory

PSG and AC Milan had locked horns against each other in a high-octane UEFA Champions League clash in the Group of Death, as the French giants reigned supreme over their Italian counterparts to achieve a memorable European victory after losing to Newcastle United in their last game.

PSG defeats AC Milan

PSG has been one of the top teams in Europe this season, owing to the likes of their superstar Kylian Mbappe, as the French World Cup winner seems to be in a starry form over last few games. After a bizarre loss in their last game against Newcastle United, who were returning to the European top flight after a hiatus of twenty years, there arose few questions regarding PSG’s inconsistent form, as the Luis Enrique managed side have had a bit of topsy-turvy weeks in their favor, but have decided to come back strongly, banking on their superstars in the form of Mbappe and Dembele, as they were coming on the back of two monstrous wins against Brest and Rennes. Last night’s fixture was a testament of their strength and consistency as all of their top stars returned to blazing form, firing shots in every department.

With a mouth-watering clash on the cards for both teams, where three points were at stake, both teams had decided to go with their strongest eleven, with former FC Barcelona and Spain manager Enrique going with his traditional 4-3-3 formation, with three French strikers up front in the form of Mbappe, Kolo Muani and Dembele. Their midfield comprised Zaire-Emery, Ugarte and Vitinha with the defensive wall boasting the likes of seasoned Marquinhos, Hakimi, Hernandez and Skriniar.

For Milan, it was their same formation with three strikers spearheading the attack, with Pulisic, Giroud and Leao, as their midfield had Krunic, Reijnders and Musah. Defensive set-up had Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori and the other Hernandez brother, Theo.

Mbappe opens the floodgate

Kylian Mbappe- the French wizard who has spun his magic web through last eight years, proved once again last night why he is called one of the greatest stars of his generation. A former World Cup winner with France in 2018, who was almost on the verge of becoming a consecutive World Champion after narrowly losing out to Argentina in the last edition of World Cup in 2022 in Qatar, has been on song this season, and one would not doubt his abilities after his mettle to single-handedly turn a match in his favor. Last night, PSG’s first goal was a result of his dribbling finesse after he received a feed from 17-year old star Warren Zaire-Emery, but it was Mbappe’s prowess with the ball which led to PSG’s opener. The former Monaco star faced against Tomori, as he cut inside his right to fire the shot in to the near post, foxing Mike Maignan, as the French keeper was rooted to his spot, thus helping PSG to get off the mark.

Kolo Muani doubles up the lead

Randal Kolo Muani, a little known name which stood on the brink of becoming an overnight French hero in the World Cup final when he faced against Emi Martinez in the final seconds of the final game against Argentina, was the torchbearer of the second goal of the night. That night in Qatar, Kolo Muani fired his shot straight to Martinez as the “Best” goalkeeper won laurels for his heroics, as he has found his first UEFA Champions League goal for PSG last night. It was a corner from PSG who had caught Milan off guard, but Maignan was instrumental in keeping the shot from Ousmane Dembele away, thus thwarting the ball, only to fall in front of Kolo Muani’s feet, before the French striker buried the shot with an easy tap-in, thus doubling the lead for PSG.

Kang-in Lee: the South Korean wonder

There is a chance that you are a player from South Korea and you are an electric striker from the Asian country. To name some instances, we will find Son Heung-Min from Tottenham Hotspurs, a gun in the Spurs attack who has been shouldering the responsibility of spearheading Ange Postecoglou’s men, and to add to the list, we would find the latest recruit from PSG, Kang-in Lee, dubbed to be Neymar’s best buddy. Last night, it was Kang who leapfrogged his first goal for PSG in style, after coming off the bench.

Once again, it was Zaire-Emery who was instrumental in setting up the ball, thus grabbing his third assist of the game. He had carried the ball back only to provide Kang with a scripted pass as the Korean was stationed on top of the penalty zone, as he rifled his first goal in PSG colors past Maignan, as his low shot had enough power to add the final nail in the coffin for the Italian giants.
