Prithvi Shaw ruled out of England’s domestic One Day competition after sustaining a knee injury

Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of England’s domestic One Day competition after sustaining a knee injury. The right-hander is being monitored by BCCI’s medical team after it was revealed that the injury is worse than expected. Prithvi injured his knee while playing for Northamptonshire against Durham on Sunday.

Shaw made an instant impact while playing for Northamptonshire in the One Day Cup as the right-hander notched up scores of 244 and 126 in back-to-back matches opening the innings for his team and taking his run-scoring tally to 429 runs in three innings making him the leading run scorer with 429 runs after 4 games

What did the club say?

“In his short stint, Prithvi has made a huge impact on us as a club. It’s a huge shame he won’t be with us for the remainder of this competition” Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler said in a statement.

“He’s an extremely humble young man, he’s very respectful and had been so grateful for the opportunity to represent Northamptonshire. As well as his performances on the field he had a huge impact in our dressing room. Nobody wanted to win games more than him and he contributed to us doing so. We wish him well and hope to see him scoring runs again soon.”

Missed Chances for Prithvi Shaw

Shaw who last played for India in July 2021 against Sri Lanka had a tremendous start to his international career as he scored an attacking century on debut against West Indies. The Mumbai-based batter was destined to be the next big thing in Indian cricket and was being compared to Sachin Tendulkar because of his appearance and the way he played on his debut.

But as faith would have it, he was ruled out of India’s tour of Australia in 2018 after picking up an injury in a practice game. He was banned for violating doping rules when he was all set to make a comeback in international cricket against South Africa in 2019.

Prithvi finally made a comeback in 2020 against New Zealand and did well in the test series but failed to score big runs and was dropped from the second test of India’s first tour after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic to Australia where India was bowled out for 36 in the first test
