Premier League ‘Big Six’ reject European Super League

Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ have rejected the new idea of joining any the European Super League again.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool have all released an official statement, saying that they will stick with UEFA competitions, and will not join the Super League.

Arsenal and Liverpool are the latest clubs to publish an official statement since the European Court has announced that neither FIFA, nor UEFA can stop any club from joining the Super League.

Moreover, the Premier League have also rejected the idea of Super League. They released a statement that said: “The ruling does not endorse the so-called ‘European Super League’ and the Premier League continues to reject any such concept.

“Supporters are of vital importance to the game and they have time and again made clear their opposition to a ‘breakaway’ competition that severs the link between domestic and European football.”

Premier League ‘Big Six’ committed to UEFA

Two years ago, when the Premier League clubs accepted the proposal of Super League, football fans started a heavy revolution against it. Moreover, new Premier League rules and imminent Government legislation will also not allow them to join the ESL.

“This ruling does not signify an endorsement or validation of the so-called ‘Super League,’” UEFA said. “It rather underscores a pre-existing shortfall within UEFA’s pre-authorisation framework, a technical aspect that has already been acknowledged and addressed in June 2022.

“UEFA is confident in the robustness of its new rules, and specifically that they comply with all relevant European laws and regulations.”

What will be the punishment for the ‘Big Six’ if they join the Super League?

According to reports, the ‘Big Six’ are already aware that they’ll be fined £25 million and will be handed massive points deductions if they try to join the Super League for the second time.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham know that if they accept ESL, 30 points would be deducted.

The likes of Chelsea and Tottenham would have already been relegated. Whereas other clubs would be down in the last places.

Back in 2021, Premier League and FA released a statement and claimed that all six clubs that joined the Super League have “collectively agreed” to make a payment of £22 million as “a gesture of goodwill”.
