PM Modi’s Heartfelt Pep Talk to Team India After World Cup Final Defeat

The Indian cricket team’s remarkable journey in the Cricket World Cup 2023 came to a heart-wrenching end as they faced defeat against Australia in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, in sports news cricket.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Home Minister Amit Shah, witnessed the intense clash that dashed the hopes of millions of fans expecting an end to India’s 12-year wait for the ODI World Cup. Despite the disappointment, PM Modi extended his support by joining the dejected Team India in their dressing room.

A Consoling Presence: PM Modi’s Words of Encouragement

In a poignant video shared by PIB, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seen consoling the players individually, recognizing their extraordinary performance throughout the tournament.

“Aap log poora 10-10 game jeet ke aaye ho, yeh toh hota rehta hai. Muskuraiye bhai, desh aap logon ko dekh raha hai. Maine socha mil lun sab ko. (You have won 10 consecutive games. This one loss is normal, it keeps on happening. Please smile, the entire country is watching you. I just thought that I should go and meet you people),” PM Modi said.

Addressing the captains, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, PM Modi extended his empathy, holding their hands and reassuring them with a simple, “Hota hai (it happens).”

Sharing a light moment with fellow Gujarati Ravindra Jadeja, the PM conversed in Gujarati, creating a light-hearted atmosphere amidst the disappointment.

“Kya babu (speaks in Gujarati and both laugh),” PM Modi said to Ravindra Jadeja.

Appreciation for Mohammed Shami’s Performance
Approaching Mohammed Shami, the top wicket-taker of the tournament, PM Modi expressed his admiration and wrapped him in a hug, saying, “Arrey Shami, bahut accha kiya iss baar. (Well done, Shami. You played really well this time).”

Engaging in a casual conversation with Jasprit Bumrah, PM Modi asked, “You speak Gujarati?” to which Bumrah replied, “A little bit.”

Encouragement for the Team’s Hard Work

In a broader message to the entire team, PM Modi acknowledged their hard work and exceptional performance, urging them to stay united and motivated.

“Toh, aap sab log bahut acchi mehnat kare ho. Chaliye, hota hai. Aur saathiyon zara ek doosre ka hausla buland karte chaliye. Aur jab aap log zara free honge aur Delhi aayenge toh baithunga aap sab ke saath. Meri taraf se nimantaran hai aap sab logon ko. (You guys have worked really hard and played exceptionally well. Just stick together and keep on motivating each other. Also, if whenever you guys are free and are in Delhi then let’s meet again. You all are cordially invited from my side.)”

The Indian cricket team’s unbeaten run of 10 consecutive wins in the World Cup was marred by the final defeat against Australia. Despite the setback, PM Modi’s words of encouragement sought to uplift the spirits of the players and acknowledge their stellar performance throughout the tournament.
