Pat Cummins rejects Rohit Sharma’s idea of 3-match series for WTC Final: Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team who just lost another chance to win an ICC trophy, indicated that the World Test Championship final should begin with a three-match series starting in the next cycle.
Pat Cummins, who cited the Olympics as an example where competitors only receive one shot to earn a medal, rejected his demand.

After Australia crushed India by 209 runs in the WTC Final, Rohit gave a post-game interview.
“The final should have a three-match series and the mega match shouldn’t always be played in the month of June and in England,” said Rohit.
However, Cummins was not in favour of this proposal or idea.
“We already won the WTC Trophy. Not only 3 match series for WTC Final, there can be 16 match series. There is only once chance in Olympics and players win the medals,” he said.
In addition to WTC, the cricketer from New South Wales has played for the World Cup-winning Australian teams in 2015 and 2021 T20.
Pat Cummins and company will attempt to defeat England in the forthcoming Ashes series. However, he wants the players to fully appreciate the ICC championship experience before worrying about the forthcoming series.
He stated, “I know we’ve got a big series (Ashes against England) but we can worry about that in a couple of days’ time. You only get a few of these moments in your career where you can sit back, and acknowledge a pretty special achievement and this is one of those times.”
The opening Test between England and Australia will be played at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, starting June 16.
