Ousmane Dembele: Former FC Barcelona speedster speaks about his time at the Catalan giants, says he will remember the “good memories”

Former FC Barcelona superstar Ousmane Dembele does not seem to have taken off his Barcelona dream after leaving the Spanish giants to ply his trade in his home club, Paris Saint-Germain this season. He was heard speaking about his stint at the Spanish side, where he has enjoyed several ups and downs, before bidding farewell to the defending La Liga champions after six memorable years.

Ousmane Dembele- an attacking stalwart

Ousmane Dembele has been one of the biggest names when it comes to an attacking wing sector. The former Borussia Dortmund, whose meteoric rise through the ranks have been well documented when he used to swivel away opponents with his class and exuberance. His prolific awareness in front of the goal and exceptional dribbling skills attracted Barcelona scouts, and he was drafted on their deck in the summer of 2017, with a long-clause in place for the Frenchman. In his six-year marathon stint for the Spanish giants, Dembele has had several good memories, from lifting La Liga to Copa Del Rey. He had formed a formidable troika with several stars including Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Raphinha- to name the latest, and had been a pivot for Xavi last season, forming an integral member of his 4-3-3 coordination.

This season, Dembele had decided to ply his trade for his home club Paris Saint-Germain, as the Ligue 1 giants were coping with Lionel Messi and Neymar’s absence, as the former, Argentine World Cup winner decided to pursue his American dream at Inter Miami, whereas his Brazilian counterpart ‘Ney’ decided to taste Middle-east Asian beauty with Al-Hilal SC. Although his goal-scoring knack seems to have been turned off since last few games, he has proved himself to be a creator within Luis Enrique’s squad, thus acting as a vital cog in Luis Enrique’s side.

A candid chat with PSG TV

Dembele, as he approaches towards the mid-season, was engaged in a candid chat with PSG TV, also speaking about his days at Dortmund, where he got former Barca and Arsenal forward Aubameyang as his mentor and big brother. He was heard saying, “At the beginning, I spoke with Thomas Tuchel and Michel Zorc, who was sports director at the time. They immediately convinced me about the BVB project, plus they came to talk to me. I hadn’t played a lot of professional matches. They immediately had confidence in me.”

He further added, “When I arrived, Aubameyang helped me like a big brother. Afterward, I spent a very good year in Dortmund; I had a lot of fun with a playing group with many qualities. I had the confidence of the coach, and everything went well.”

Talked about Barca days

Then Dembele was seen reminiscing his days in Barcelona, when he joined the Spanish giants in 2017, after Neymar left the Catalans to ply his trade for PSG. He was heard saying, “My arrival in Barcelona went very well, although I had physical problems at the start. I spent six wonderful years there; I made a lot of friends. I will only keep very good memories.”

He would be hoping to be back to his beast mode when he pledges to bring the coveted UEFA Champions League home, in Paris.
