No more changes in World Cup 2023 schedule as BCCI denies Hyderabad Association’s requests

Since the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in the city will hold back-to-back games on October 9 and 10, the BCCI has rejected the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s (HCA) plea for another adjustment to the ICC Cricket World Cup schedule 2023.

As a result, there won’t be any further changes made to it. The police might not be able to guarantee protection for two games in less than 24 hours, hence the HCA had advised BCCI to take a modification into consideration.

But since ticket sales are scheduled to start later this week, the BCCI has informed HCA, according to a report by Cricbuzz, that modifying the schedule at this time is not possible.

The report went on to say that the HCA has agreed with the BCCI’s directive and will support the local police in ensuring the venue’s three World Cup matches go well.

Hyderabad Association’s requests get rejected: No more changes in World Cup 2023 schedule

Three World Cup 2023 matches were scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on October 6, 9, and 12. However, the match scheduled for October 12 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has been postponed to October 10. As a result, the venue will host three games over the course of five days. The match between India and Pakistan was originally scheduled for October 15, but it was moved to October 14 in order to give Pakistan a few days’ notice.

“We comprehend that BCCI’s vice-president, Mr. Rajeev Shukla, has already issued a statement. We have been informed that making a last-minute alteration is challenging, and we are striving to make arrangements for the orderly execution of the matches. We have conferred with the city’s police commissioner, and he has reassured us of full assistance,” the HCA official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Pakistan’s World Cup 2023 campaign will kick off on Friday, October 6 against the Netherlands. Four days later, they will play Sri Lanka at the same location. On Monday, October 9, New Zealand will play the Netherlands in Hyderabad, which is the only match that does not feature Pakistan.
