Nico Williams- The rising star of Spain

Spain has always been the powerhouse of talents who have flourished at the senior stage since ages. Even at this decade, Spain has successful in manufacturing and outsourcing raw talents who have documented their meteoric rise prominently among the club hierarchy. Starting with Pedri and Gavi, the enterprising midfield duo who have taken the world by their exuberance and skills, to the latest name, the wizard from the ranks of La Masia who has already etched his name in the history books by becoming Spain’s youngest ever goal scorer Lamine Yamal, Spain is bubbling with talents which just needs to be properly molded to become a polishing diamond.

To add to these names, one more star is worth featuring-Athletic Bilbao’s young winger Nico Williams, who has also been dubbed as the best friend of Lamine Yamal. The 21-year old prodigy, who has already kept his supporters swooning over his exceptional dribbling skills coupled with pace which is worth the money, has been on the radar of several heavyweights in the domestic circuit, which involves FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. But, he has ended to those unsettling rumors of him joining the giants of Spanish capital, as he has signed a new deal with his parent club, Athletic Bilbao for a period of four years.

A talent for the ages

German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer once mentioned the difference between a genius and a talent. He said, “Talent hits a target no one else can hit. Genius hits a target no one else can see.” Nico is the perfect example of a talented individual with the ability to reach great heights with his genius mindset. Coming through the ranks of the Basque club Athletic Bilbao, which believes in nurturing homegrown players, Nico has been one of the favorites among the club members. Brother of another superstar Inaki Williams, Nico had showcased his talent over the years which made him a outright choice for a perfect forward, who has the ability to marshal the attack.

Owing to his exceptional talent and enterprising mentality, he had been previously scouted by Spanish giants Barca and Real, who had seen Nico as a potential attacker who can turn things in his own hands. But, as he prepares to spearhead Bilbao troops as he is set to become one of the most sought-after players after his contract, Nico would be ready to take on any challenges presented to him. With his current contract set to expire at the end of the running season which could potentially risk Bilbao of sending him away on a free transfer, he has signed a long-term contract which would see him at the club till 2027. He has featured for Bilbao on 96 outings, getting on the score sheet on 13 times, and for La Roja, he has been capped 11 times at the senior level.
