Nathan Lyon’s Unmatched Consistency: 30,000 Deliveries Without Overstepping in Test Cricket

Australia’s off-spinner Nathan Lyon achieved a remarkable milestone on February 11th, as he successfully delivered over 30,000 deliveries in Test cricket without overstepping the crease even once. This is a remarkable accomplishment for the 35-year-old spinner, who made his Test debut in 2011 and has represented Australia in 115 matches.

Mazher Arshad, a verified statistician, shared this impressive feat, highlighting Lyon’s consistency as a spinner. Despite playing over 100 Tests and picking up 460 wickets, Lyon has not bowled a single no-ball, making this a truly staggering record. In addition to his Test cricket career, Lyon has also represented Australia in 29 ODIs and two T20Is, taking 30 wickets in the process.

Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin Lead the Way

On Day 2, India saw strong performances from skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja, but it was on Day 3 that Axar Patel and Mohammed Shami truly shone.

The two helped India post 400 runs on the board in the first innings, with Patel scoring 84 off of 174 deliveries and Shami contributing 37 off 47 deliveries, including three sixes and two boundaries.

However, it was veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who truly made an impact, dismantling Australia’s batting unit. The off-spinner dismissed Usman Khawaja, David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Peter Handscomb, and Alex Carey, helping India secure a win with an innings and 132 runs.

In conclusion, Nathan Lyon’s consistent spin bowling has led to a unique feat in Test cricket and India’s strong performance on Day 3 secured their win in the match.
