MI batting coach Kieron Pollard backs struggling Suryakumar Yadav

MI batting coach Kieron Pollard has expressed his confidence in Suryakumar Yadav’s form despite his recent struggles. Pollard believes that the Mumbai Indians franchise has no concerns about Yadav’s performance and expects him to make a comeback soon.

Suryakumar Yadav has been going through a rough patch in the last few months. In the ODI series against Australia, he registered three golden ducks, and in the opening match of IPL 2023, he scored only 15 runs off 16 deliveries. However, Pollard feels that such performances are part and parcel of the game, and the team management will continue to support Yadav.

Pollard’s views on Suryakumar Yadav’s Form

Pollard pointed out that Suryakumar Yadav has been striking the ball well in the nets, and he expects him to do justice to his talent in the forthcoming matches. He reminded that players can have bad days, and such days should not overshadow their previous contributions to the team.

“We have no concerns about Surya’s form, again. I believe you guys make more of it than we do sometimes within the team setup. People have bad days and that is unfortunate as cricketers our bad days are highlighted and we keep speaking on and on about it rather than trying to look at the positive or what he has done over the past 18 months or so in cricket as an individual,” Pollard said.

Pollard’s Views on the Impact Player rule

Pollard also shared his thoughts on the Impact Player rule, stating that he has not spent much time thinking about it. He believes that every cricketer that steps onto the field needs to create an impact and help the team win, regardless of any such rule.

“To be honest, I have not thought much about the impact player rule. A lot of thoughts have been flying around about it but for me, you still have to go out and play cricket, impact or no impact. As players, you have to make an impact on the field anyway. For us, it is about focusing on what needs to be done from every individual,” Pollard said.

Pollard’s unwavering support for Suryakumar Yadav will boost the batsman’s confidence, and he will be hoping to come back strong in the upcoming matches. Pollard’s views on the Impact Player rule also reflect the team’s focus on playing cricket and making an impact on the field.
