Messinho prefers Barcelona move despite Premier League interest
Talented Brazilian forward Estevao ‘Messinho’ Willian prefers a move to Barcelona despite interest from the Premier League giants.
Apart from Barcelona, other European clubs have also enquired about Messinho. It is said that the young forward has a similar playstyle of Lionel Messi and can retain possession of the ball with it glued to his feet as he effortlessly drifts past his opponents.
Moreover, he impressed everyone with his brilliant performances in the FIFA U17 World Cup, scoring three goals and assisting 3 in just five games.
Premier League clubs eye a move for Barcelona target
According to Mundo Deportivo, big clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United are all pushing to sign Messinho. Moreover, his club, Palmeiras is also pushing his family and agent to make a decision as soon as possible.
Ligue 1 champions PSG are also considering to sign him. They have already secured the signings of two Brazilian talents in Moscardo and Lucas Beraldo, but will go for the Messinho as well.
Nevertheless, the Catalan giants have nothing to worry about as Messinho prefers to wait for them as he dreams of paying in the Blaugrana colours. In a recent interview, Messinho admitted that he wants to play for Barcelona in the future.
“I’ve watched almost every Barca match, I’m a fan of the club. I have great admiration for the players who play there, and I hope to be there too”, said Messinho.
Can Barcelona afford to sign Messinho?
Due to their financial struggles, Barcelona have missed out on a lot of talents across Europe, and their Board have now decided to focus on singing young talents.
They have already missed out on Claudio Echeverri, who is now close to joining Manchester City. But they don’t intend to lose Messinho.
The 16-year-old has a €60 million release clause, but Barcelona cannot afford that amount right now. However, Estevao Willian’s agent, Andre Curry, will suggest Palmeiras that Barca will pay a small fee to them at first and pay the rest of the amount later.
Andre Curry, who is also Vitor Roque’s agent is present in Barcelona. Deco and Joan Laporta will take the opportunity to talk about Messinho’s transfer.
Nevertheless, he will not leave Brazil until July 2025, as he will turn 18 in April of said year.
