Maxwell, Mitch Marsh return as Australia announces ODI Team for 3-match series against India

Cricket Australia on Thursday announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against top-ranked ODI team-India. Thus, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh will make their long-awaited return to the Australian side from injury.

The first ODI between Australia and India is in Mumbai on March 17, before the remaining two games in Vizag (March 19) and Chennai (March 22).

Maxwell, Marsh to return back to Australia Colors

Jhye Richardson will bolster the fast-bowling stocks after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Marsh, who is recovering from an ankle injury, is expected to play two domestic matches for Western Australia before heading to India, while Maxwell has already made his return from a broken leg with Victoria’s state team.

Australia ODI team: David Warner, Cummins to travel back

David Warner, who has headed back to Australia after getting injured during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy, is expected to be back for the three-match series. Injured pacer Josh Hazlewood has been left out of the side as he recovers from his setback.

Pat Cummins, who also flew home from India after the drubbing in Delhi because of a family illness, will captain the team in a series that will help Australia prepare for the World Cup in India later this year.

What Chief Selector Bailey thinks of this series?

According to chief selector George Bailey, the series will provide Australia some excellent practice ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup that is scheduled to take place in India later this year.

“With the World Cup just over seven months away, these matches in India are an important step in our preparation,” Bailey said.

“Glenn, Mitchell and Jhye are all important players in what we think the squad might look like come October.”
