Matty Cash: Exact knowledge about Aston Villa fullback’s injury under radar

In football match news, Aston Villa and Poland defender Matty Cash could be on the brink of missing several games on trot owing to an unprecedented back injury during their game against Nottingham Forest, after which he was substituted by boss Unai Emery, who demanded medical attention soon after.

Matty Cash- a block along the flanks

Matty Cash has been one of the stars for Unai Emery’s side this season. The fullback, who has also represented Poland National Team on many occasions, latest in the World Cup one year ago, has been instrumental for guarding the flanks of the defensive wall for the former Villareal and Arsenal coach Emery, who has shown ultimate trust in the Polish.

But, Emery’s guarding wall could be suffering from a shoulder injury which might have an astounding effect on the team’s progress, as Cash has been a clutch player for the Villans in this season, acting as the link between defense and attack, with his exuberant runs across the wings.

Having previously played for Nottingham Forest during his early days, last weekend’s matchday was a return of Cash to his old club, reminiscing his yesteryear days at the Premier League. Although he was seen to be below par at the first half, he was seen being replaced just before the hour mark, raising some concerns of Unai Emery, and the club board.

A dangerous injury?

Emery, after being signaled by Cash to take him off, demanded the medical team to take a closer look at his injury, as his actions indicating to be a shoulder injury. Although in-game replays did not suggest any direct knock to that area as it has not resulted from a direct tackle from the opposition, the mystery behind the knock still remains uncertain, with Aston Villa tight-lipped regarding the extent of Cash’s injury.

Emery was not seen stressing about this issue but might be compelled to talk about it when he appears before the press in the pre-match conference of UEFA Conference League, eve of their game against AZ Alkmaar.

Cash is reported to be one of the fittest players among the ranks of Aston Villa, addressing a single injury in his career, when he broke his tibia during 2016-17 season. As life comes at full circle, he was a Nottingham Forest player then, and his services were missed in 17 games. Since then, he has been clear of injuries, until last season, when he missed 12 games for club and country in three different occasions.

Villa fans would hope for a quick return for Cash, as he is quintessential for Villa’s push to the top-four finish. The defender has scored three goals and contributed two assists in all of 17 games he have played this season, thus ,making him one of the valuable players for the club, and would look to up his ante in the coming games.
