Mason Greenwood Cleared of All Attempted Rape Charges; Likely to appear on field soon
The Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood won’t face charges of rape and assault after the Greater Manchester Police announced that criminal proceedings have been discontinued.
The 21-year-old was arrested almost a year ago for the allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault after a video and audio footage was posted on social media by his girlfriend.

However, due to these charges, professionally as a player, it hampered Greenwood a lot. On one hand the Red Devils suspended his contract at the club indefinitely, and on the other hand Nike also terminated their partnership with him while EA Sports confirmed that he had been removed from the active squads o it’s FIFA 22 game.
But now his case has been dropped because of a ” combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”

Mason Greenwood was accused of some gruesome charges by his ex-girlfriend Harriet. In 2022, she shared some morbid photographs of herself that showed how she had been treated with violence by the Man United forward.
Following this, the then 20 year old was dropped from the Manchester United team and faced a severe media trail. This saw him sink to the lowest pit of despair there ever could be for a youngster. However, now that nothings has been proven against him, he might appear on the field again.
Mason Greenwood Likely to Return to Football
Greenwood is still under contract at Manchester United despite having been arrested as his deal has two and a half years to run and expires in 2025. Mason joined the youth academy at the age of 6 and since the he worked hard and got his chance to play in the first team.
But to his court case, he hasn’t played professional football for over a year. The last time when he played for his club was in the Premier League against West Ham United on January 22, 2022.
Now it would be interesting to see how this situation develops cause the club has said that until their internal investigation is over, Mason would not play for them.
