418/5 vs West Indies, Indore 2011

India’s best ODI score occurred in the fourth match in a five-match series against West Indies back in 2011 at Indore. Virender Sehwag became the second Indian to reach a double century in that same game. With their fifty-run contributions, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina helped India to a massive total of 418/5.

In response, West Indies could only muster 265 runs as spinners Rahul Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed three victims. India secured the series victory with a commanding 153-run victory in the game. Player of the Match was rightfully awarded to Virender Sehwag.

After India’s early wicket of Shikhar Dhawan was taken by off-break bowler Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli put together a 290-run partnership for the second wicket to steal the show.

Chris Gayle’s record for the quickest ODI double hundred was eventually broken by Kishan. Before Ishan Kishan took his wicket, Kishan had amassed 210 runs on the strength of 24 fours and 10 sixes.

The 34-year-old Kohli also took it easy on his way to his 72nd international century off 85 balls after being a little cautious to begin. On the list of cricketers who have scored the most hundreds internationally, Kohli is now just behind Sachin Tendulkar.
