Lionel Messi scores twice as Inter Miami beat Orlando City 3-1

Lionel Messi bagged a brace as he helped his side to a 3-1 win against Orlando City. Inter Miami also secured a place in the last-16 of the Leagues Cup.

Moreover, the Argentine scored in his third straight game against Orlando City. He scored his first goal in the 7th minute and added another goal in the 72nd minute of the game.

He scored the first goal in 7th minute after he took a delicate touch before striking a half-volley past Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese. Moreover, the World Cup winner is never short of amazing celebrations. He produced an intriguing celebration, standing with his arms across his chest resembling.

However, 11 minutes later, Orlando managed to score a equaliser. But Messi was not done there he scored again in the 72nd minute. He received a pass from Josef Martinez and converted a right-footed shot to seal the game for Inter Miami.

Messi scores five goals in three matches for Inter Miami

After scoring two goals against Orlando City Messi’s tally goes to five goals in just three games. The Argentine scored a wonderful free-kick in stoppage time on his debut against Azul Cruz.

He continued his brilliant form, and in his first start as a Inter Miami player he scored a brace against Atlanta United. Moreover, Messi is also getting the best out of his teammates.

However, the Argentine also had a little spat with Cesar Araujo in the 20th minute, and received his frst yellow card. Orlando coach Oscar Pareja said: “Tonight was a circus. There was a second yellow on Messi. I don’t care if he’s Messi.”

Jordi Alba makes his Inter Miami debut

Former teammate of Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets also made his debut. Alba came off the bench in 64th minute. The Spanish left-back was more than happy as he was reunited with his former teammates again.

Alba has seen what Messi is capable of at very close quarters over the years. But he remains in awe of what the seven-time Ballon d’Or is capable of doing with the ball at his feet.

After the win against Orlando City, Alba said: “It is no longer surprising, but what Leo does is outrageous. After two years without playing together, today we have finally played together again and now it’s time to enjoy a few more years together.”
