Lionel Messi: Inter Miami star unlikely to play on loan, says Spanish football expert Guillem Balague

Inter Miami and Argentine legend Lionel Messi will not be joining any other club during MLS off season, as reported by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague. Although he was linked for a return to his “home” FC Barcelona, as it stands in the present scenario, he would not be gracing his presence in the Spanish courtyard.

Lionel Messi to Barca- a failed dream

Lionel Messi has been one of the stalwarts for La Liga champions since years. A face of FC Barcelona, whose meteoric rise through the ranks of La Masia had been well documented, and he has been the most decorated player of all times, owing to his recent success with Inter Miami in Leagues Cup, surpassing his former mate at Barca, Dani Alves, with 44 silverwares. His fans were rooting for a miraculous fairytale comeback when he decided to close on his French dream at PSG, but unfortunately he decided to ply his trade for Inter Miami, and went on to become a legend for the Herons, leading them to their first silverware in 5 years. But, things started to go haywire for Miami when Messi got injured last month, as they were slowly losing out on a Playoff contention. Their last game against FC Cincinnati ended in a defeat, thus crashing out of a playoff spot.

As a result of that defeat, Messi and Miami would be playing their final game of this season on October 21, as his current focus lies on the World Cup qualifiers. He has returned to field, but had played a meagre 72 minutes after his injury, thus his fitness will be tested in the international fixtures.

“Forget any move”

Spanish football expert Balague has expressed his opinion in Messi’s potential move to Barca or Saudi League, as he said, “Messi will have around one month holiday, like other footballers. So forget any move to Saudi or similar. ” He will be getting a one-month vacation after Word Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil on 17th and 22nd November, respectively, and is slated to return for pre-season with Miami, before regular season starts in February.

He has been instrumental in leading Miami to their maiden silverware after the club was founded in 2018, as he went on to brandish his class and mastery in every fixture he played, with humongous freekicks to soothing dribbles. He has scored 11 goals in 13 appearances for the Herons, with a solitary goal coming in five MLS appearances. Thus, he would be looking forward to bounce back next season, with Miami fans rooting for a better stand in upcoming season.

Inter boss Tata Martino has said regarding the rumors of any potential loan move for Messi, as he was heard saying, “That’s surprising. I know nothing about that. If you’re telling me that he’s going to go visit Barcelona on vacation, yes, it’s probable, but I don’t have any information on the other part.”
