Leeds United sold to 49ers Enterprises to take full control

49ers takeover marks the end of Radrizzani’s six-year ownership. He completed a full takeover in 2017 from Massimo Cellino.

Elland Road was in private ownership since 2004, but Radrizzani bought the stadium back. Marcelo Bielsa’s appointment was great for Leeds United as they were in the Premier League after 16 long years.

49ers slowly and steadily increased their stake, whereas, Radrizzani’s relationship with the fans was hampering after sacking Bielsa in 2022.

Leeds United managed to stay in the Premier League last season after a relegation battle. After that, Radrizzani promised the fans that the club would not be involved in relegation battles.

However, this season everything started to fall apart. Bielsa’s successor Jesse Marsch was also sacked, and then Sam Allardyce was appointed with fours games remaining, failed to keep them in the Premier League.

Moreover, after the relegation was confirmed after a defeat to Spurs, Radrizzani was not present at the Elland Road. He was in Italy finalising his takeover of Sampdoria.

The former owner later admitted that the Leeds’ board made mistakes and apologised for club’s relegation on social media.
