La Liga: Elche considering a legal action against Barcelona for playing Gavi

Barcelona and Elche faced off in Estadio Martinez Valero, immediately after the international break. The Catalan Club enjoyed a comfortable win as they achieved an outright victory against Elche, ensuring a 15 point lead over second placed Real Madrid. All the three attackers Lewandowski, Fati and Ferran were on target as the Polish international hit the back of the net twice. Fati and Ferran also found their groove back, scoring once each.

All around the prodigal kid

Gavi has been a first choice starter for Xavi since last season. His mind blowing skills, impeccable passing and immaculate dribbling has been the talk of the season. Another thing which makes others hate him is his never-say-never attitude, as he is always ready to put his life on the line to save his team, an exemplary depiction of La Masia academy.

But, he has been under fire due to his contract issues as Barcelona failed to register him in the first team, as a result of which he has returned to his Juvenil A contract, wearing his old jersey number “30”.

He was arguably the best player on the pitch, assisting one and creating few chances, but Elche are thought to go for legal action after Barcelona fielded Gavi. His registration was cancelled by Spanish judiciary, as a result he was forced to return to his youth contract.

According to article 141 of the RFEF, though, a player is not allowed to play again once his registration has been cancelled. On this ground, Elche can charge for legal actions. Although it was reported that Barca has obtained precautionary measure , but if a club decides to challenge this, the final decision might be taken by the judiciary committee.

Although Elche has not proceeded with the legal issues, more movement is expected in the coming weeks regarding this controversy.
