Kuldeep Yadav completes 150 ODI wickets becomes the fastest Indian spinner to achieve the milestone

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav picked up his 150th wicket in ODI cricket in the Super Four Clash against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. He became the fastest Indian spinner to take 150 ODI wickets in just 88 games. The wrist spinner surpassed legendary spinner Anil Kumble who took 150 wickets in 106 games.  Kuldeep is overall the fourth fastest spinner to reach the milestone in ODIs trailing only behind Saqlain Mushtaq (78 matches), Rashid Khan (80 matches), and Ajantha Mendis (84 matches).

Rohit Sharma also praised Kuldeep Yadav after the match. The Indian captain said “For the past year or so bowling really really well. He has done a lot of hard work on his rhythm. He went back to the drawing board and worked on it. The ball is coming out nicely and you can see the results in the last 10 ODIs.”

Hard Work Pays Off

The last one year has been nothing short of a dream for Kuldeep. From being out of the team at the start of 2022 to leading the spin attack in 2023 life has come full circle for the Chinaman bowler

This was evident from the way he bowled against Pakistan and Sri Lanka picking up 9 wickets in the two matches helping India register a thumping win which helped the team boost their net run rate and make sure they finish on top of the points table irrespective of the results of other matches and qualify well in advance for the final of the tournament.

The Indian Bowling

Talking about the Sri Lankan inning after posting a challenging score of 213 on a difficult wicket the Indian bowlers had their task cut out against a strong Sri Lankan batting lineup. And they stepped up when it mattered led by Bumrah who along with Siraj cleaned up the Lankan top order. While there was some resistance from the middle order the Indian spinners kept the pressure on the Sri Lankan batting lineup which yielded wickets as Jadeja picked up crucial wickets of the middle order batters and Kuldeep cleaned up the tail
