Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter KL Rahul achieved a new milestone in T20 cricket as he became the fastest Indian to reach 7,000 runs in the format. He achieved this feat during an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Gujarat Titans in Lucknow.
Rahul’s impressive knock
In the match, Rahul played an impressive knock of 68 off 61 balls. He hit eight boundaries during his innings, and his runs came at a strike rate of 111.48. KL Rahul has scored 7,054 runs in 210 T20 matches and 197 innings, with an average of 42.49. He has also scored six centuries and 61 fifties, with the highest score of 132*. His T20 strike rate is an impressive 136.20.
Rahul has been a consistent performer in the IPL, representing several teams including Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and LSG. Successful 2020 season
Rahul’s most successful IPL season was in 2020 with Punjab Kings, where he scored 670 runs in 14 matches at an average of 55.83. He scored one century and five fifties in that tournament, and his runs came at a strike rate of 129.34. Rahul won the ‘Orange Cap’ for scoring the most runs in that season.
