KL Rahul begins batting practice before the Asia Cup

There was some good news for the Indian fans on day three of the training camp that India is engaged in for the preparation of the Asia Cup as it was reported that KL Rahul has started batting ahead of the multi-nation tournament slated to start on August 30 to be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The keeper batter who is coming after a long injury layoff which he suffered during the IPL was seen batting with Surya Kumar Yadav in the nets on day two of the camp as a part of the match stimulation exercise which every batter is going through to prepare for the tournament.

A Good Sign

It is welcoming news for the man in blue as Rahul is an integral part of the team and his absence hinders the combination of the team with Ishan Kishan coming in as his replacement with the condition that he can only bat in the top order which means that either of the top three batters in Gill Rohit or Kohli must sacrifice there batting position to make a place for Kishan in the top order.

Talking about Rahul’s performance on day three of the camp, the batter was seen not only batting but also working on his keeping skills which will be very important on turning wickets in Sri Lanka where he will be keeping to the likes of Kuldeep who will be a key weapon in India’s campaign in the Asia Cup

Man in Focus

While he did not run between the wickets, he did not look in any discomfort in taking on the pacers and showing some great footwork against the spinners On Day three of the camp, Rahul was seen batting alongside captain Rohit Sharma in a center-wicket practice before doing some extended wicket-keeping practice. Rahul has been nursing a niggle which he picked up at the NCA which is not related to the injury which ruled him out of the IPL
