KKR vs RR: Yashasvi Jaiswal Hits Fastest fifty (13 Balls) in IPL History, Royals register an Emphatic 9-wicket win

IPL 2023: Yashasvi Jaiswal produced an exhibition in power-hitting, smashing the record for the fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.

Jaiswal smashed the fifty in merely 13 deliveries, smashing the joint-record previously held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins (14 balls). En route to his record-breaking innings, the Rajasthan Royals opener also smashed 26 runs in the opening over; the most by a batter in the league.

Jaiswal has now amassed more than 530 runs this season overtaking Ishan Kishan’s (516) record of most runs in an IPL season by an uncapped Indian player. Jaiswal is second behind Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis (576 runs) in the highest run-getters list this season.

Earlier this season, Jaiswal became the joint-second fastest Indian to hit 1000 IPL runs after reaching the elite milestone in just 34 innings. Among Indians, only batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Chennai Super Kings star Ruturaj Gaikwad had entered the club faster—in 31 innings.

In the first innings, Jaiswal’s teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, with 186 wickets, became the highest wicket-taker in IPL history and ended up with four wickets for 25 runs in four overs. RR restricted KKR to a modest 149/8.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Samson take Royals home after Chahal’s record-breaking bowling

A four-wicket haul from Yuzvendra Chahal helped the Rajasthan Royals restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to a score of 149/8. After the end of the hosts’ innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal just took the chase by the scruff of its neck and raced away to the fastest ever fifty in the history of the IPL.

Earlier, RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Eden Gardens against Kolkata Knight Riders. Trent Boult struck twice, both thanks to a couple of brilliant catches from Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma, as they ensured that KKR scored just 37 runs in the powerplay.

Venkatesh Iyer powered their recovery in the middle overs with a 42-ball 57 but RR pulled it back once again at the death. Yuzvendra Chahal got the big wickets of Andre Russell and Iyer and in the process, went past Dwayne Bravo as the all-time highest wicket taker in the history of the IPL.
