Julian Alvarez opens up on links to Barcelona and Real Madrid

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has opened up on links to Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Julian Alvarez who joined Man City just over a year ago, has been linked with a summer move to Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona are struggling in front of goal this season and needs a young striker like Alvarez who can give them a big boost. As for Los Blancos, after Benzema’s departure, they were unable to sign a striker in the summer.

Moreover, Kylian Mbappe’s salary demands are also out of their budget. So, they are planning to sign the Argentine striker, who will be affordable for them.

Apart from winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, Alvarez has also won a Treble with Manchester City. Moreover, this season, he has also won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. He already has 14 trophies to his name.

The 23-year-old scored the fastest goal in the Club World Cup against Fluminense in the final.

Is Julian Alvarez under Erling Haaland’s shadow?

Despite being decisive for the Citizens, Alvarez is second in the pecking order, as Erling Haaland is their star man up front.

With De Bruyne injured, Alvarez is starting in his place now. However, he might be benched again after the Belgian midfielder’s return.

If he does get less game time, Alvarez might think of moving to another club in the summer. Pep Guardiola would also accept to lose him rather than Erling Haaland.

Alvarez speaks about his future

Speaking to Albiceleste Talk, the Manchester City striker revealed his plans for the future, and shed light on Barcelona and Real Madrid rumours.

“Real Madrid or Barcelona? The truth is I’m very happy at Manchester City. I’ve been at the club for a little more than a year. I feel very happy with everything we’ve achieved,” said Alvarez.

“From the first moment, they’ve helped me a lot. I’ve grown a lot as a player, and as a person, so I’m happy at the club. And obviously, one continues to dream and continues to want to win more titles. Now our goal is to compete and try to win them all over again!”

Alvarez has committed his future to Man City, plus he also extended his contract until 2028 in March. So, the possibility of a transfer to another club is nearly impossible.
