“He should be able to play the full IPL and as always his franchisee and the board ECB will manage his workload,” an ECB source said as quoted by Cricbuzz. An IPL source also confirmed that Archer is available and playing for England in an ODI against Bangladesh. “Jofra is very much available to play, did you not see him in action in the Dhaka ODI,” the IPL source said.
Archer has recently made a return to competitive cricket, featuring in the SA20 for the MI Cape Town and returning to the England outfit in ODIs. He played in two games against South Africa in January and February before being part of the 1st ODI against Bangladesh in March.
Bumrah’s absence
Meanwhile, news broke that Bumrah is set to miss the entire IPL 2023 season after being given the option of surgery on his injured back. This will be a significant blow for the Mumbai Indians. Bumrah might also miss the World Test Championship that is scheduled to start on June 7, 2023.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is treating Bumrah’s case on an urgent basis, and he is being analyzed by the medical staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
