Chelsea football club have officially signed the Portuguese superstar Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season. Felix has also extended his contract with the Spanish giants for one more year until June 2027, as this was the only condition set by Atletico by which Joao could join the Premier League side.
It is believed that the Blues would pay around a loan fee of 10 Million Euros to Atleti in order to secure his signing and they would also cover his enormous wages which are around a value of 300,000 Euros a week.
Felix will hope to give his best form at Chelsea and also help them in the clinical ability in front of goal which they have been struggling for in recent results that has left manager Graham Potter under pressure.
Upon his announcement, Felix said “Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives, so I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge”
Felix to turn around Chelsea’s situation
The Portugal forward surely has the potential to be one of the best as he was also awarded with the 2019 Golden Boy award for the best young player in Europe. Felix was then named Atleti Player of the Season last season by the club’s supporters.
Chelsea has now signed four players in January who are David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Benoît Badiashile had already joined this month but now Felix is by far the most high profile and with the most expectations too.
Joao will now be joining the Chelsea team that is missing the the likes of Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang due to injuries.
Felix wanted a move away from the current manager at Atletico Madrid, who has been in bad terms with the forward for quite a while now. On the other hand, Potter wants someone to score goal for him. Hence, this transfer is perfect for both sides.
Chelsea are currently 10th in the PL table with just 7 wins this season and apart from that they have suffered various injuries which has hampered thier form. The likes of Reece James, Pulisic, Kante, Edouard Mend and many more key players have been injured for a long time which has been simply a disaster for Graham Potter. But now Felix’s arrival would surely change things.
