Jasprit Bumrah set for a comeback in T20I series versus Ireland

Bumrah has been out of action since September 2022

Jasprit Bumrah is all set to make his much-awaited comeback in competitive cricket in the T20I series against Ireland. BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed on Thursday. Shah said, “Bumrah is totally fit and he may go to Ireland”. Bumrah has been out of action since the Asia Cup in September last year. He did make a comeback in the Australian series which was played after the Asia Cup but was ruled out after playing just one game in the series. He underwent back surgery in March this year and has been rehabilitating since then. There was some good news for the fans in the days gone by as it was reported that Bumrah is almost back to full fitness and is balling at full tilt in the NCA.

The Roadmap

The news was confirmed when a video of him surfaced on the Internet in which he was seen fulling with full intensity. It is also being reported that the selectors are now considering sending Bumrah to play three T20Is against Ireland in mid-August which will act as a pathway for Bumrah to get ready for the Asia Cup and the World Cup in October- November. According to selectors, they want to analyze how match fit Bumrah is and they think that Ireland T20s are a perfect platform for Bumrah to make a comeback as it would be risky for him to play the fifty-over format straightaway after a long injury layoff.

The Return

This will be Bumrah’s second trip to Ireland. He first visited the country in 2018 when he fractured his left thumb during the first match of the two-match T20I series due to which he missed the first leg of the UK tour and made a comeback in the third test match of the five-match series. Bumrah’s return will give a major boost to India’s world cup plan as he has been a vital part of the Indian bowling lineup in the last few years. With Mohmmad Shami and Mohmmad Siraj in good form, the trio will be crucial to India’s chances in the World Cup
