IPL 2023: “You’re gonna come back stronger”, KKR’s viral tweet to Yash Dayal wins hearts

The game of cricket can be cruel sometimes. Be it Ben Stokes in 2016 T20 World Cup Final, where he got whacked around the starry Eden Gardens for four maximums by Carlos Braithwaite to clinch the trophy or Stuart Broad getting smashed around the park for six sixes by Yuvraj Singh in the 2007 T20 World Cup. To add to the list, Yash Dayal is the newest entrant.

KKR shares post in support of Yash Dayal

The Gujarat Titans youngster got smacked around the park for five consecutive sixes by KKR star Rinku Singh, in the last over, with the latter winning the match for the Kolkata franchise. KKR required 29 runs from the last over, with Rinku smashing 5 sixes of consecutive 5 balls of Yash Dayal.

But it was KKR’s heart-warming tweet which won million of hearts after the match. They cheered up Yash Dayal, after the match as he was stunned after conceding 5 sixes of the last 5 balls to lose the game for Gujarat.

Not his day

In a normal day, Yash could have easily defended 29 runs of the last over with no prominent batter left in the KKR team, but it was not just his day. Rinku rose to the occasion, becoming an overnight hero, but his friend, as both Yash and Rinku share the dressing room in the domestic circuit, hid his face behind towel as he failed to defend 29 runs in the last over.

After the post match presentations, KKR came up with a heart-warming tweet in response to Yash’s drubbing of the last over, setting a beautiful example of sportsmanship.

The tweet, indeed won millions of hearts as it was really beautiful to cheer up some one in that time, thus proving that sometimes cricket extends beyond rivalries.

A star is born

KKR needed 39 of 8 balls when Rinku and Umesh were playing the waiting game. Rinku took the matter in his own hands as he smashed 38 runs of last 7 deliveries, snatching the victory from Gujarat’s hands. Rinku was soaking in immense joy and pleasure as he was applauded by both the teams as he just smashed an inhuman knock, of 48 runs in 21 balls.

In the post match conference he said, “I had the belief that I can do this. (Nitish) Rana bhai said to keep the belief and to bat till the end, then we will see what happens. I was just trying to hit sixes. (Umesh) bhaiya was asking me not to think much and just play the ball.

“I was not thinking a lot, was just reacting to the ball. It kept coming out of the middle, I had belief and it came off in the end,” as a result he was awarded the Player of the Match award.
