IPL 2023, RCB VS LSG: Kohli, du Plessis, Maxwell hit fifties; Lucknow needs 213 runs to win

Kohli and du Plessis got the home side to a good start with a 96-run partnership and then Maxwell joined hands with the skipper to forge a brilliant 115 runs in just 50 balls for the second wicket to take Bangalore past the 200-run mark. Bangalore exploded at the death overs as du Plessis and Maxwell looted 75 runs in the last five overs to post a huge total on board. Back for the chase in a bit.

The 100-run partnership was up between Du Plessis and Maxwell with the Australian bringing up his half-century off 24 balls with a huge six over point and the RCB skipper punishing Avesh with a boundary to the long-off region in the 19th over. With the 200 coming up for Bangalore and this has been an ultimate carnage from Du Plessis and Maxwell.

Virat Kohli hits his 51st IPL fifty

Virat Kohli hit a blistering half-century to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to an imposing 212/2 against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.

Kohli took the centre stage with his 44-ball 61-run knock, as he shared a 96-run stand for the first wicket after being sent into bat. With this, the former RCB skipper completes fifty one fifties in the Indian Premier League.

On top of that, with his fifty-plus score against LSG, Kohli now has scored 50+ against all the current active IPL teams – Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) and LSG.

Will du Plessis be able to defend the massive total or can we see another Rinku Singh-like performance today?

This has been a brilliant batting performance from RCB. They have scored more than a decent total on this surface. KL Rahul on the other hand will be looking at his seamers and would be scratching his head.

The spinners brought LSG back into the game for a brief period of time however, once Maxwell started going Faf too picked up and went after the spinners. The seamers missed their mark time and again at death. The LSG side despite chasing a massive total will not be flustered as these still are excellent conditions to bat on. RCB’s death bowling has been always under question. It will be an interesting second half folks don’t go anywhere stay with us.
