IPL 2023, Qualifier 2: Sai Sudharsan becomes first cricketer to be retired out in IPL playoffs
GT batter Sai Sudharsan has become the first cricketer to be retired out in an IPL playoff match. Sudharsan was called back after 19th over. He had scored 43 runs off 31 deliveries, including five fours and a six. GT scored 9 runs in 19th over. They scored 19 runs in 20th over and put up a total of 233/3.

The 21-year-old player has joined spinner Ravichandran Ashwin of the Rajasthan Royals and batter Atharva Taide of the Punjab Kings on this uncommon list of hitters who were urged to put the team ahead of themselves. When Gujarat Titans opted to withdraw Sudharsan at the end of the 19th over, he had reached 43 off 31 balls.
Shubman Gill’s century takes GT past 200+ run mark

After Virat Kohli (2016), Gill is the only other Indian batsman to have scored more than 800 runs in an IPL season. Jos Buttler (2022) and David Warner (2016) are the other two. In the 12th over, Gill smashed three sixes off MI’s game-winning pitcher Akash Madhwal (1/53), pushing the Gujarat Titans’ total above 800 runs while leading the team’s drive by himself.
At the virtually full Narendra Modi Stadium, he hit a barrage of sixes against both seamers and spinners to reach fifty off 32 balls with two sixes and three fours. The Mumbai Indians were the losers on both occasions as Gill beat Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 62-ball 124 to register the best individual score this season.
