In the first IPL 2023 qualifier, Chennai Super Kings faced off against Gujarat Titans, and before the middle of the second innings, the MS Dhoni-led team found themselves in control.

In the 14th over, Deepak Chahar even tried to Mankad Vijay Shankar to further force GT up against the wall as the CSK bowlers were keeping the GT hitters constrained with their disciplined bowling. To continue the game, he smiled and withdrew it.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Chahar has attempted to Mankad the non-striker end’s batter.
Deepak Chahar has been in the limelight after the third T20I between India and South Africa played back in 2022. Though India lost the game, the third T20I was full of exciting moments.
In the 16th over, Chahar tried to run out Tristan Stubbs when he was running out of the crease on the non-striker’s end. Chahar moved on with a warning while he was also far away to reach the stumps.
Chennai Super Kings defeat GT for first time to reach 10th final
In their match against Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings registered a respectable 172 for seven thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 44-ball 60. CSK got off to a fantastic start thanks to Gaikwad and Devon Conway (40), but GT’s middle order batsmen struggled as wickets started coming often.
CSK reached a respectable total of 35 off the final three overs thanks to a cameo from Ravindra Jadeja (22). Rashid Khan (1/37), Noor Ahmed (1/29), and Darshan Nalkande (1/44) each took one wicket, while Mohammed Shami (2/28) and Mohit Sharma (2/31) each grabbed two.
Gujarat Titans didn’t have a solid start to their innings and lost wickets on regular intervals. Although Subhman Gill tried to steer the ship in the right direction by scoring 42 off 38, he too couldn’t take them over the line.
Rashid Khan did try to bring the match closer than it would have been with his 30 off 16 balls. But GT fell short of the target by 15 runs, as Chennai registered their first win over them to reach their 10th final.
