KL Rahul tops the List of Batters with Best Batting Average in IPL
Stylish opener and the current Lucknow SuperGiants skipper KL Rahul is a bankable run-machine, and that’s pretty reflective in the list of batsman with the highest batting average in IPL history.
KL Rahul has over 3800 IPL runs to his name and his run-tally from the last four seasons (recent first) read: 626, 670, 593 and 659. The stylish yet destructive right-hander also holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the IPL. He has been a pillar for the Indian team across formats and it will not be any different when he sets foot on the field for LSG.
Hashim Amla secured the second spot
At the 2nd spot is former South African opener Hashim Amla, with an average of 44.38, albeit in just 16 innings. And hence finds himself on the list of players with highest batting average in IPL.
Interestingly, amla was picked for the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Kings XI Punjab as a replacement for Shaun Marsh, after the latter’s injury. Since then, he has proved to be an integral part of the team’s batting lineup. He has scored 577 runs in 16 matches, which included two centuries and three half-centuries. He was named in the Cricbuzz IPL XI of the tournament.
Pocket Dynamite David Warner at third spot
Run-machine David Warner is at 3rd place, with a healthy average of 42.01 after 162 innings.
Warner commenced his IPL journey at the Delhi franchise in 2009 and after 13 years, with a bag full of experience, loads of runs under his belt and having won the IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he returned to represent the team in 2022.
Warner, who is the fifth-highest run getter in the history of the IPL with 5449 runs to his name, is one of the most destructive openers across formats and he will be keen to make a mark right from the word go for DC. And emerge as the player with highest batting average in IPL.
SRH Newly named skipper Aiden Markram at 4th
Current SRH skipper Aiden Markram (40.54 after 18 innings) ranks fourth in the list of batters with highest batting average in IPL history.
A stylish right-handed batsman, Aiden Markram, joined PBKS as a replacement for England’s Dawid Malan in 2021. In his relatively young international career, the South African has put on some impressive performances with the bat and his occasional off-spinners.
Aiden Markram has played 20 matches to date in his IPL career and has scored 527 runs, with an average of 40.54. He has also slammed 3 half-centuries, with his highest IPL score being 68* runs.
