On Thursday, May 18, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, match 65 of the IPL 2023 will feature Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sunrisers enter the match having suffered a 34-run defeat to Gujarat Titans in their last match, while Royal Challengers Bangalore enter the game having destroyed Rajasthan Royals.
RCB’s bowlers put on a spectacular display against RR, dismissing them for only 59 runs while they were chasing a 172-run goal. As a result, RCB scored a huge victory of 112 runs, increasing their likelihood of making the playoffs.

With six victories out of 12 games, the Faf du Plessis-led team has 12 points and is sixth in the IPL standings. RCB still have two games left in the league stage, and a victory in both of those games will guarantee them a berth in the playoffs.
Punjab Kings have greatly benefited from losing to Delhi Capitals because they now just have to contend with Mumbai Indians, who may also finish the league stage with 16 points like RCB. Additionally, the five-time champions’ road is made more difficult for the three-time runners-up because they have a lower net run rate.
However, RR, Kolkata, and Punjab will still have a chance to make the playoffs if RCB loses one of their remaining games. RCB will need to control their net run rate, which is now higher than all of the aforementioned teams, in such an instance.
Therefore, in order for RCB to finish with 14 points and lose one of their remaining games, they must also hope that MI loses their final match and that RR, KKR, PBKS, and MI all have net run rates that are lower than theirs.
However, with four victories out of 12 games, SRH has already been eliminated from the competition and is currently tenth from the bottom of the points standings. SRH will be keen to ruin RCB’s celebration and make their path to the playoffs more difficult even though they have no chance in hell of making it.
