IPL 2023: CSK’s Sisand Magala ruled out for 2 weeks with fresh injury against Rajasthan Royals

MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings will be without the services of their star Proteas bowler Sisanda Magala, as the all-rounder will be out for two weeks as coach Stephen Fleming threw light on his injury, confirming his absence from the squad.

Magala to miss out with injury

Magala has come to the Chennai Super Kings squad as a replacement for New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson as the latter was ruled out before the starting of IPL. He came on the back of a superb performance in the South African rendition of Premier League, which kicked off its first edition in style.

Speaking of the extent of the injury, CSK coach Stephen Fleming was heard saying, “Deepak Chahar is (out for) two-or-three weeks, Simarjeet Singh… I am guessing a little bit here… he is (out for) 10 days, Ben Stokes is improving day by day, Mukesh Choudhary is out, Magala is out for at least two weeks.”

CSK has been plagued by the injuries of their star players as English all-rounder Ben Stokes is also on the sidelines, but reports of his recuperation has surfaced, as he might be taking the field after few matches.

Another star of CSK was back in the last game. Moeen Ali, who was missed in the game against Mumbai, took the field against Rajasthan last night. On the other hand, Stokes is on the sidelines for two games due to his heel injury. It is reported that CSK might look after their remaining resources as they need to move on from their injury setbacks.

Speaking of which, Stephen Fleming added, “For us again, it’s losing another player – that’s two games in a row – and we’re already pretty thin, so we’d like it (injuries) to stop. Magala’s hand was split, unfortunately, so he was unable to bowl those last two overs. And the same with Deepak Chahar in the last game, so we’re operating on pretty thin resources. But we’re not the only team to have that.”

Last night, CSK lost a nail-biter against Rajasthan Royals after the match went to the wire. Dhoni was again back at his best as he smashed two sixes off Sandeep Sharma in the last over, but his pitch-perfect yorkers proved deadly even for the best finisher as Rajasthan edged out Chennai by three runs, to claim the top spot.
