India becomes No.1 ranked team in all formats after defeating Australia in 1st ODI

India became the No.1 ranked team in all formats of the game, including Tests, ODIs, and T20 Internationals, following their five-wicket victory against Australia on Friday.

In the ODI standings, India overtook Pakistan, while in the T20I rankings, India is ahead of England. They are in the lead in the longest format, followed closely by Australia.

The rankings reflect the hard work put in by this team as they chase excellence on the field. This is fantastic achievement just ahead of the World Cup. Also 1-0 up against Australia with a win in Mohali. Let’s keep the momentum going.”

In the opening ODI of the three-match series on Friday, Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad each scored a magnificent half-century to lead India to a five-wicket victory over Australia.

Chasing a target of 277, Gill smashed 74 off 63 balls and Gaikwad hit 71 off 77 as India reached 281 for five, surpassing the total with eight balls remaining.

Suryakumar Yadav (50) and captain KL Rahul (58 not out) both scored fifty runs. Australia was given the bat first and was dismissed for 276 in 50 overs.

David Warner scored 52, Steve Smith added 41, and Josh Inglis chipped in with 45 at the bottom of the batting order.

The best Indian bowler was pacer Mohammed Shami, who finished with 5/51 while dismissing Mitchell Marsh, Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Short, and Sean Abbott.

Mohammed Shami breaks Ajit Agrakar’s record against Australia

By surpassing previous fast bowler Ajit Agarkar to become the second Indian bowler with the most wickets against Australia in one-day international cricket, Mohammed Shami of India made history.

In the first game of the three-game ODI series against Australia, Shami, who won the Man of the Match award, put on an outstanding effort by taking five wickets for just 51 runs.

With 37 wickets versus Australia, Shami has amassed a remarkable total; Kapil Dev leads the group with 45.

Third place is held by Ajit Agarkar with 36 wickets, followed by Harbhajan Singh with 32 and Javagal Srinath with 33.
