Ind vs WI, 5th T20I: King, Shepherd help West Indies to T20 series win over India

Ind vs WI, 5th T20I: At Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida, on Sunday, Brandon King’s unbeaten 85 enabled West Indies to defeat India by eight wickets in the fifth and final Twenty20 International to win the five-match series 3-2.

In a chase that was started by Romario Shepherd’s career-best 4/31 in the first innings and ended by King, West Indies successfully completed a goal of 166 runs in 18 overs.

West Indies wins the T20I series against India for the first time since 2017 thanks to the 3-2 victory that ends India’s streak of 12 T20I series without a loss.

The pair took advantage of the powerplay limits and scored 61 runs as a result to get off to a strong start. However, they made sure to show Kuldeep Yadav ample respect, who was bowling with control and finished with figures of 0/18 in his four overs, while King and Pooran continued to go for boundaries against each bowler.

Rain caused multiple delays in the game, but the longest one occurred in the 13th over when lightning safety measures forced an end to play. Pooran was dismissed by part-timer Tilak Varma for 47 off 35 balls after a more than 30-minute break, but it was too late for India to mount a recovery.

Shai Hope continued where he left off from yesterday with 47 runs still remaining, and King kept putting in easy runs. Hope scored a six against another part-timer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, to win the game.

Ind vs WI, 5th T20I: Shepherd limits India to 165/9

India’s middle order collapsed earlier because of Shepherd, who limited India to 165/9.

India lost both Jaiswal and Shubman Gill early in the innings after choosing to bat first. With a 49-run stand for the third wicket, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma helped India bounce back from an early jolt. On the comeback, Roston Chase lost Varma to a one-handed diving catch.

India kept losing wickets from the other end even though Suryakumar appeared to be in terrific form and was playing with an aggressive mindset. Shepherd quickly and cheaply removed Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson from the lineup before taking the wickets of Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav in the lower order.

Suryakumar scored 61 runs off of 45 deliveries to assist India in scoring a decent 165.

After a month-long visit to the Caribbean, India triumphed in the Tests and ODIs while West Indies won the T20 Internationals.
