IND vs AUS: Why is Australian Team Wearing Black Armbands on Day 2? Checkout the reason here

The Australian team are seemed to be wearing black armbands during the second day of the fourth and final Test in the IND vs AUS of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy series on Friday in memory of captain Pat Cummins’ mother, who passed away earlier in the day.

“We are deeply saddened at the passing of Maria Cummins overnight. On behalf of Australian Cricket, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pat, the Cummins family and their friends.” Cricket Australia took to Twitter to announce the news of Maria’s passing.

Cummins had earlier left the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 to return back home to be by his ailing mother’s side as she suffered from illness.

In Cummins’ absence, Steve Smith was named the stand-in captain, whereas Cricket Australia on Friday morning confirmed the passing away of Cummins’ mother.

Smith led Australia to a nine-wicket win against India in Indore to secure his team’s place in World Test Championship (WTC) final, scheduled to be played at The Oval in June.

Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green have set their foot in the field with great confidence and positive intent on the Day 2 of the fourth and Final Test of the 4-match Australia’s Test Tour to India.

Both of them have now stitched a strong 100-run partnership and are contrasting each other perfectly to put the hosts in a state of bother. Khawaja with his patience scored a ton on the first day, while Green with his determination to score runs is playing with a quick fifty in his name.

Consequently, Australia are 301/4 after drinks on Day 2 of the IND vs AUS 4th Test.
