IND vs AUS: Ravindra Jadeja Takes 7/42 in Second Test; Registers Career-Best Figures

India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja put up an outstanding performance on Day 3 of the second Test match against Australia, registering his second seven-wicket haul in Test cricket. Jadeja took seven wickets for 42 runs in just 12.1 overs to bowl out Australia for a paltry total of 113 runs.

Jadeja registers Career-Best Figures

Jadeja’s performance on Day 3 was exceptional as he took seven wickets for just 42 runs, which were his best-ever figures in a Test match. This was even more impressive considering the fact that he achieved this against a quality Australian batting lineup. Jadeja’s figures were instrumental in bowling out Australia for 113, their lowest-ever total against India.

With his seven-wicket haul, Jadeja’s match figures now stand at 10 wickets for 110 runs. This is Jadeja’s best performance in a single Test match, surpassing his previous best of 10 wickets for 154 runs. His previous best figures in a Test match were 7 wickets for 48 runs against England in 2016.

Consistent Performances

Jadeja’s performance on Day 3 was not a one-off display of brilliance. He has been consistent throughout the ongoing series against Australia, taking a total of 17 wickets in just the first two games. Apart from his bowling, Jadeja has also contributed with the bat, scoring 70 and 26 runs in the first two innings of the series.

Jadeja started the day by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne for 35, after which he took four more wickets in quick succession. His wickets included Peter Handscomb (0), Alex Carey (7), Pat Cummins (0), Nathan Lyon (0), and Matthew Kuhnemann (0). Jadeja’s bowling was too much for the Australian batsmen to handle as they were bowled out for 113 runs in just 32.2 overs.

Ravichandran Ashwin also played a key role in India’s win, taking three wickets in the Australian innings. Ashwin dismissed Travis Head (17) early in the morning session and then followed it up by trapping Steven Smith (0) leg before wicket (LBW). This triggered a collapse as the remaining Australian batsmen failed to handle the Indian spin attack.

On Day 3 of the second Test match, the Australian team suffered a batting collapse as they lost eight wickets for just 80 runs, with many of their batsmen falling to the sweep shot.

The shot selection of the Australian batsmen was poor, and they were unable to deal with the Indian spinners. Jadeja capitalized on this by dismissing several Australian batsmen through the sweep shot, including Pat Cummins.

Jadeja’s performance on Day 3 of the second Test match against Australia was nothing short of exceptional. His consistent performances throughout the series have been instrumental in India’s success so far. With two Tests remaining in the series, India will be hoping for more such performances from their star all-rounder.
