Player of the Match Virat Kohli has his say

Virat Kohli brought up his most-awaited 28th Test Century batting in India’s first innings in the Final Ind vs Aus Test clash. This was also his 75th International ton. With brilliant piece of batting from Kohli bought up his 28th Test hundred after a long wait of more than three years.

Speaking the after match presentation, Player of the Match Virat Kohli had his say

To be honest the expectations that I have on myself as a player are more important to me [than the external pressure]. I felt that I was batting well from the first innings in Nagpur. We tried to focus on batting for as long as possible. I did that on a few occasions but not to the capabilities I’d done in the past. But there was the belief that I was playing well.

Kohli adds that there was a set of relief from the point of view by which he wanted to play- keeping the desperation aside. However, there wasn’t relief from an achievement perspective.

“I don’t need to go out there and prove someone wrong. People have that belief in me but I have to keep doing that as well to keep justifying being on the field,” Kohli stated.

Virat emphasized on how Steve Smith went smart with field placement and didn’t let the set batter score easy boundaries. Nonetheless, Team India got the result they wanted, Kohli concluded.
