ICC asks Squads to submit Initial squad list for ODI World Cup by September 5 – Reports

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the nations competing in the ODI World Cup must submit their initial squads by September 5. The competition will start on October 5 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, thus teams can submit their final list by September 27.

“All teams must finalise their 15-player squads prior to September 28, with any replacements after this date requiring approval from the ICC,” the ICC statement read.

ODI World Cup 2019’s Finalists to play the great opener on October 5

Each of the other teams will closely monitor the development of each of its players. With less than two months until the start of the World Cup, all of the teams have started their final preparations and are aiming to advance to the competition’s semifinals. The defending champions England will play New Zealand in the tournament’s opening match, which is expected to get things going.

Both sides appear to be about as prepared as they can be to take home the coveted title. While New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is now recovering from an injury, England will keep a watch on the growth of Jofra Archer, who might be very vital for the squad. The team management in New Zealand is also keeping an eye on the recovery of Kane Williamson. Both of these cricket players are anticipated to return to the pitch before to the World Cup.

Australia, the only team yet to announce the Preliminary team

An interesting point is that Australia has already released their 18-man preliminary team for the major tournament in India. Pat Cummins has been named as the Australian team’s captain for the tournament, while Marnus Labuschagne has failed to make the cut. The final roster will be decided upon by the team management after the Kangaroos’ bilateral series against South Africa and India.

Australia squad: Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa. (three to be omitted)

India’s squad for ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Yet to be announced

With a home 50-over World Cup coming up in 2023, Indian cricket is expected to have a significant year. Since their victory at home in 2011 for the World Cup, the Indian team hasn’t claimed a title. Prior to the World Cup, Men in Blue will play 15 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and an Asia Cup in an effort to defend their championship.

There is currently a small conundrum with regard to India. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, two stumper-batters, are now recovering from their individual injuries, and there has been no word on when they would be able to play again. Notably, it is generally believed that Rahul would heal quickly and maybe participate in the Asia Cup, but there is no assurance that Shreyas will do the same, since he may require additional time to rehabilitate.
