Harry Kane equals Wayne Rooney to become join highest International goal scorer for England

The defending champions France have managed to reach the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup for the second consecutive time after a rollercoaster 2-1 win over England in the quarter-finals at Al Bayt Stadium.

Even though it was a complete disaster for all of England fans and players, there was only a single positive throughout the game. Their captain Harry Kane at the 53rd minute The Three Lions equalised in the match courtesy of a penalty kick from Kane which made him the joint top scorer for England. He now has 53 goals same as that of England legend Wayne Rooney

However later on, France responded by getting back the lead once again in the game, courtesy of a brilliant header from their striker Giroud. From then on, it was simply an all-out attack strategy for Southgate’s men and this resulted very well for them as once again they got a penalty and a chance to equalise the match taking it to possibly extra time.

So Harry Kane steps up again for his nation but this time, the pressure and the mind game must have possessed him as his shot went over the crossbar and he also missed the chance to be England’s all-time top scorer.

Marcus Rashford had one last chance in the game with a free kick, but his shot too went over the crossbar which indeed ended England’s dream of winning the World Cup.

All in all, it was another case of penalties which resulted in an England defeat and now France will now play in the semi-finals against Morocco. Deschamps men are now one win away from becoming the first team to reach back-to-back finals since Brazil in 2002
