Harry Brook scores first century in IPL 2023
The English batter was bought at the auction for a hefty price tag of INR 13.25 crore, despite having never played in the IPL before, and was immediately put under the scanner after two disappointing showings. However, he finally broke the shackles against the Kolkata Knight Riders after a brief strangulation by the host spinners, the 24-year-old reminded the world of his talent with some audacious shot-making in the 20 overs he played.
An innings to watch from the SRH batters led by the young Harry Brook. He has been scoring centuries for fun in Test cricket and set the PSL on fire across the border. Now he has come and shown what he can do in the IPL. He smashed an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls but the fact that it was still not a one-man show is what has propelled SRH to this giant score.

“I’ve had a bit of trouble with spin, but I wanted to use the powerplay to my advantage. So middle overs wanted to rotate strike and let the other boys do the hitting. It is a belter of a pitch, we need to bowl our lengths rightly and take wickets. We still got a job to do. My girlfriend is here but the rest of my family have just left, I’m sure they’ll all be very happy for me.”

While Harry Brook led the way with an unbeaten 100 off 55 balls captain Aiden Markram scored 50 in 26 and Abhishek Sharma smashed 32 off 17. Heinrich Klaasen also chipped in with an unbeaten 16 off six balls. For KKR, it was Andre Russell who was the highest wicket-taker with three scalps but he had to be helped off the pitch after bowling the first ball of the third over.
