Harmanpreet Kaur to Lead Mumbai Indians In Women’s Premier League

Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be playing for Mumbai Indians in the inaugural Women’s Premier League. One of the top batsmen in the world, Harmanpreet has an experience of 147 T20 Internationals to her name. Harmanpreet was bought for Rs 1.80 crore during the auction and had a base price of Rs 50 lakh.

India’s opener Smriti Mandhana fetched the highest bid in this auction and became the most expensive player in the Women’s Premier League. She was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 3.40 crore.

Harmanpreet’s Experience Will Help Mumbai Indians

Harmanpreet Kaur has experienced 147 T20 International matches and has scored 2956 runs with a strike rate of 107. Apart from this, she has also picked up 32 wickets. Harmanpreet Kaur is aggressive in batting at the middle order for which there was a long bidding process by teams to buy her.

In April 2013, she was handed the captaincy when Mithali Raj was rested for the limited-overs series against Bangladesh, making it clear that she is the one waiting to take on the job. Later in November 2016, she replaced Raj as captain of the T20 team for the series against West Indies.

RCB made the first bid to pick her and soon Delhi Capitals also jumped into it. Later, there was a competition between Mumbai and Delhi, but Mumbai picked her up in the end. Harmanpreet has huge experience in captaincy with the international team which will help Mumbai Indians side a lot.

The team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, and comprises of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar, Yastika Bhatia, Heather Graham, Isabelle Wong, Amanjot Kaur, Dhara Gujjar, Saika Ishaque, Hayley Matthews, Chloe Tryon, Humairaa Kaazi, Priyanka Bala, Sonam Yadav, Neelam Bisht, and Jintimani Kalita.
