Harmanpreet Kaur claims worst ever record in Indian women’s cricket

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team won the second T20I against Bangladesh by eight runs despite being dismissed for 95 runs, pulling off an incredible victory. Shafali Verma led the way with 19 (14), which featured four fours, as India, batting first, collapsed for 95 runs. Verma also shown exceptional skill with the ball, taking three wickets.

Despite the victory, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, gained internet fame for the wrong reasons after scoring a golden duck. On the first pitch, Kaur was clean bowled for zero runs.

After she got bowled out for a golden duck by Sultana Khatun, Kaur bagged a sixth duck in the format. She has now gone past Mandhana, who has been out without scoring on five times in T20Is.

As this was Kaur’s sixth international duck, she set a humiliating record. She surpassed Smriti Mandhana as the Indian woman cricketer with the most ducks.

Behind Rohit Sharma, who has 10, Harmanpreet has thrown the second-most ducks of any Indian cricketer overall. After scoring 54(35) in the first game, Kaur was named Player of the Match.

India’s lowest score against Bangladesh women

The first innings score of 95/8 against Bangladesh was the lowest for India in T20Is. Shafali Verma scored the most runs (19) during the outing, which saw no hitters reach the 20-run threshold.

Prior to this, the Women in Blue’s lowest score against Bangladesh in this format was 101/1, which they achieved in March 2014. Punam Raut and Captain Mithali Raj both had perfect scores of 55 out of 64 and 42 out of 46, respectively. But Mithali’s team was able to defeat their opponent by a score of 16.

Harmanpreet Kaur Back In Top-10 Of ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings

Despite the most recent record, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has regained her place in the top 10 of the latest ICC women’s T20I batting rankings following her stellar show in the opening T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh. Kaur’s match-winning 54 not out off 35 balls while chasing 115 has lifted her four places to 10th position. Tahlia McGrath still leads the way with 784 rating points, closely followed by teammate Beth Mooney (777). Smriti Mandhana (728), Sophie Devine (683) and Bates (677) complete the top five.
