Glenn Maxwell IPL Vow: ‘I’ll play until I can’t walk anymore’

An integral part of Australia’s World Cup-winning squad, Maxwell has been a key figure in the IPL, notably representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Speaking openly at Melbourne Airport, he shared, “The IPL will probably be the last tournament I ever play, as I will play the IPL until I can’t walk anymore.”

Maxwell attributes a substantial portion of his personal and cricketing growth to the IPL, underscoring the invaluable learning experience garnered from sharing the field with international stalwarts such as AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli.

Reflecting on the profound impact of the IPL, Maxwell expressed, “It’s just the greatest learning experience that any player could ask for.”

Making his IPL debut in 2012, Maxwell has amassed an impressive record over the years. With 124 matches under his belt in the IPL, he has accumulated 2719 runs at an average of 26.40. Displaying his prowess with the bat, Maxwell has notched up 18 half-centuries, boasting a highest score of 95 runs. His aggressive style is evident in the 226 fours and 158 sixes he has struck throughout his IPL career.

In the IPL Auction 2023, the Bangalore franchise secured Maxwell’s services for a noteworthy sum of Rs 11.00 Cr.

Maxwell’s last IPL appearance was in May 2023, in a match against Gujarat at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, India, where he contributed 11 runs off 5 balls.
