Germany beat France 2-1 in their first game since sacking Hansi Flick

Germany beat France 2-1 at the Signal Iduna Park in their first game since sacking Hansi Flick earlier this week.

The former Bayern manager was sacked after a crushing 4-1 defeat to Japan this week. Moreover, his side was struggling and were also unable to win a game since March.

Germany win their first game in six-months

So, his sacking was on the horizon after these poor results. Germany had no time to appoint a manager before their international friendly game against France, so interim manager Rudi Voller took charge.

Furthermore, the result was impressive, as the Germans were able to beat the 2022 World Cup finalists. No one expected Germany to beat an in-form France side, but they were looking lively under Rudi Voller.

The Die Nationalmannschaft opened the scoring in under five minutes of the match after a left-footed goal from Thomas Muller. France also had plenty of chances to score the equaliser, but they were unconvincing without Kylian Mbappe.

Germany beat France as Muller and Sane fire them to victory

The second half was not that entertaining, but just when five minutes were remaining the game was alive again. After a pass from Kai Havertz, Leroy Sane made no mistake to extend Germany’s lead to 2-0.

However, Les Blues did not give up easily as they earned a penalty later on, and Antoine Griezmann made no mistake to put the penalty past Ter Stegen.

After Griezmann’s penalty, France were looking for an equaliser but Antonio Rudiger and Jonathan Tah made important clearances to make sure the Germans handed France their first defeat of the year.

Even after this big win against France, the Die Nationalmannschaft won’t be considered the favorites to win the Euro 2024 next year. But, certainly, the good vibes will be back after this big win.
