Future Barcelona striker Vitor Roque scores after returning from injury

Future Barcelona forward Vitor Roque, who was sidelined for two months after suffering an ankle injury scored his first goal.

The Athletico Paranaense youngster suffered a ankle injury back in September. However, he has returned to the pitch earlier than the expected three-month recovery time.

These games could also be his final one for Athletico Paranaense as he is eager to join Barcelona in this January transfer window.

The Catalan club are looking to register him in La Liga in Gavi’s spot, who has suffered an ACL injury and is out for the whole season. So, this will free up some space to register Roque.

Roque came on against Vasco da Gama over the weekend and played 26 minutes in that game. He then came on in the second half against Cruzeiro on Thursday evening and scored a goal in the 65th minute of the game.

After scoring the goal against Vasco da Gama, Roque said: “I am very happy to have scored again with this shirt, we came to look for victory, but it was not possible because they equalised us in the final minutes, but what we have to do is remain focused on these two games that we still have to play.”

‘O Tigrinho’ is Athletico Paranaense top scorer this season. Despite being sidelined for 2 months, he has 21 goals and 8 assists for them this season.

The La Liga champions are struggling in front of goal this season as Robert Lewandowski is not performing at a top level this season. The Polish striker was Barcelona’s main man last season and helped them to win the La Liga title.

However, with Roque’s arrival, Barcelona will get a huge boost and his arrival will also push Lewandowski to score goals to keep his place in the team.
